An Institute for Research Architectures

The Erpenbach Institute develops and publishes the Erpenbach Research Architecture (ERA): a growing research architecture for questions of reality, knowledge, behaviour, decision, time, coherence and coexistence across human, artificial, animal, cultural, planetary and physically-dynamic systems.

What the Institute does

The Institute develops conceptual research architectures for complex questions that cannot be reduced to a single discipline, method or application.

The Erpenbach Research Architecture connects different models and projects into a larger research framework. It investigates how reality becomes visible, knowledge becomes possible, behaviour becomes comparable, decisions become comprehensible, systems become legible and coexistence becomes shapeable.

The work is directed at researchers, institutions and partners who want to understand, organise or further develop fundamental structures of complex systems.

Why an Institute?

The projects of the Erpenbach Institute are not a loose collection of individual publications. They belong to a growing research architecture in which new work is situated, connected and further developed.

The Institute creates a stable place for this: for publication, classification, licensing, project partnerships and the long-term development of the Erpenbach Research Architecture.

How collaboration is possible

The Erpenbach Institute works selectively with institutions, organisations and project partners whose questions fit the Erpenbach Research Architecture. Collaboration does not arise as general consulting but through clearly defined forms.

Format I

Licensing

Selected frameworks and architectures may be licensed for defined institutional, scientific or organisational use.

Format II

Architecture Briefs

Written Architecture Briefs apply selected research approaches to concrete structural questions – for classification, clarification and orientation.

Format III

Project Partnerships

Project partnerships arise where an external institutional context and the Erpenbach Research Architecture fit together professionally or structurally.

Format IV

Research and Structuring Mandates

In limited cases, the Institute undertakes commissioned research or structuring work with a clearly defined framework.

What it is not

Not a consultancy, not a certification body
Not a provider of open workshop or training formats
Not a tool or product agency
Not a conventional think tank

Partnerships

The Institute enters into formal partnerships only where conceptual and structural fit is established. Current project partnerships are documented on the partners page.
